Welcome Back to School

As the long days of summer come to an end, our Conservancy staff is busily preparing for Fall Educational programs, when our wonderful volunteer docents head back into classrooms to get students excited about nature though our 3rd Grade Naturalist Program. The students will learn all about local wildlife as well as their role in protecting the environment as they prepare for their much-anticipated hiking field trip to natural open space near their school. The 3rd Grade Naturalist Program includes four standards-based science lessons. Staff members are also preparing for the Science Students as Stewards Program, connecting elementary students with science and nature in the outdoors. The program offers hands-on science lessons for K to 6th grade students. Schools interested in joining either the 3rd Grade Naturalist or Science Students as Stewards programs are encouraged to contact Education Program Manager, Holly Gray at hgray@pvplc.org.

For the youngest members of our community, we host engaging story-time programs at both of our nature centers. Families are also invited to join our morning family nature walks on the first Saturday of each month at George F Canyon Nature Center and the fourth Saturday of each month at White Point Nature Education Center. Also at White Point on many fourth Saturdays, we provide an informative natural history lecture series for adults.

These wonderful programs are made possible with generous support from the California Coastal Commission’s Whale Tail grant and the Habitat Conservation Fund.
