🌿 This Indigenous Peoples’ Day, we honor the enduring presence, knowledge, and stewardship of the Tongva-Gabrieliño people. Coming soon to White Point Nature Preserve is a new audio storytelling experience created in partnership with the Tongva Cultural Collective.
Through Tongva-Gabrieliño voices, visitors will discover native plants through traditional names, stories, pronunciations, and perspectives that reflect generations of knowledge and an ongoing connection to ancestral lands.
We look forward to welcoming you to listen, learn, and experience the native plant demonstration garden in a new way.

🐦 Happy International Migratory Bird Day! The White-crowned Sparrow is back. Each fall, these striped-capped songbirds fly thousands of miles south from their breeding grounds in Alaska and Canada to spend the winter here in Southern California. For many of us, their arrival is a familiar seasonal marker. Keep an eye out along trail edges and shrubby areas, where they forage on the ground in small flocks.

🌱 Planted 125 native plants
✂️ Removed invasive plants from 7,410 sq. ft.
💧 Watered 700+ plants
🌼 Prepared 500+ native seeds for planting

🌱 The 90+ degree heat wasn`t stopping our amazing all-female Outdoor Volunteer Day crew! Each of the 75 native rattlepods planted at Agua Amarga Reserve was well watered to help it through the heat, and with hopes for El Niño rains ahead, we’re planting, planting, planting!
One little rattlepod at a time, these super girls are helping restore habitat for local wildlife. 🌱

Our incredible volunteers help care for the lands of the Palos Verdes Peninsula in countless ways, including removing invasive mustard (Brassica nigra), which crowds out the native plants wildlife depends on. While its bright yellow flowers may look colorful in spring, by summer the plants dry out and can increase wildfire fuel loads.
Every hour donated helps protect wildlife habitat, reduce fire risk, and keep these open spaces healthy and beautiful for everyone to enjoy. Thank you to our volunteers for making a lasting difference! 🌱
